You are allowed to assign yourself an avatar (icon) for your posts at the forum, just like mine to the left here.
You can upload your own avatar to your profile as long as it follows these rules:
It must be max 16Kb in file size
It must be max 150x150 pixels
It must not be offensive (obscure body parts, etc.) Your face will do nicely.
However, you are also allowed to pick an avatar from the approved galleries (check at the bottom of your profile; currently, only country flags).
