Just wondering if anyone has some advice for a pperson who's been trying to figure out Alpha 5 to make a database for thier cheap boss,, has no training in this feild, but likes the program and would like to further their education in it, and get a better job.

I don't know Alpha 5, but here are some general rules you could follow:

I suppose that the program has built-in functions.

Make little files where you try out each and every function.

Take the help file as your guide to see what the function does and what the expected outcome is.

See if you get the same result.

Try to change some parameters and see if you get the result you think it should be.
Try to find out why not if it isn't.

Try to combine functions and see what the result is.

Take every day 3 to 4 functions and after a while you will master all of them, know when to use them, where and why.

Now you have a lot of tools in your toolbox to work with.
For every possible situation you will have a tool and know how to use it.
